"Disengage"

From an image once so clearly seen...

The lines have blurred...

Definition and meaning has lost all description...

Judgment cast holds life by the moment...

Sadly, what was known, is now a use-to-be

Anger strikes at the root of everything

Mining out the core...

Blind decisions are made by a one track mind

An open heart is now closed to any reasoning

Around every corner betrayal is seen

Turning former understanding into a pillar of righteousness

How does the heart turn so cold?

Is there a time picked to turn away?

Because I refuse to be banished into darkness

Especially when I only seek the light

Tarnishing any brightness that remains

I am not this choice made on my behalf...

This is not my embrace held...

There comes a point when nothing can justify the venom within words spoken

So I surrender my place...

By removing myself from range

Disengaging the connection once made strong

My shoulders will not bare such heavy weight

Allowance upon discussion on how it came to be is denied

Pride keeps you anchored to your claim

Silence now speaks...

Because the only reaction received, is from the way the heart responds to being hurt...

There is no respect to emotion...

Cast aside and abandoned is the punishment given...

But I know my worth through this realization that has come to pass

There is release...

And it comes in the steps leading away...

Because I am not every bad yesterday

Today is living...

And tomorrow is existing.

"Echoes"

So many days have been counted...

Moments relived...

The seconds examined...

All replayed in a continuous loop...

How many last times can the mind remember?

Its the bittersweet...

The joy for knowing...

And the pain in loss...

Like the changing seasons there comes another month

The deepest hope is still wished

But not even the strongest conviction can return us to what use-to-be

So we visit our treasured memories when we are feeling a little lost

Which for a while...

Was every single day...

The sparks created in random thought is bringing us full circle

A want and need to share life and existence keeps us here

So we remember...

Because reality is the correction made

A lesson we wish so desperately we did not need to learn...

We are embraced by this new understanding

The heart of love has breathed through the wake of devastation

Tears have cleared the path of darkness...

Allowing us to see the remembrance kept within the brightness of light

All that has been echoes through...

We are are here, carrying the legacy of you with us

Even though the laughter is bittersweet

Our heart knows the connection to your everlasting soul

Because these steps forward will forever remain filled with random things that is everything that is you

Even when the rush of everything gets too much

And the tears fall once again...

For the life lived...

And for the one you no longer don't.

There are those moments...

When we come to realize...

That our thoughts connect a pattern given...

Time strings together emotions and memories

Experiences and actions...

The bitter truths...

And every shade of a lie...

Because hurt only comes from trust stolen

As the eyes bring into view the same picture

There is so much repetition...

The negative casts its shadows

And without correction, all intentions blind the direction forward

We are not this anger given to us

Nor are we the hate carried within others

Each day is a choice...

To fear or thrive...

How do you wish to survive?

Our legacy is not others past wrongs doings

We have to be a being learned from history in motion forward

Peace does not come from pieces...

Healing the broken is ending the spinning circle of darkness

By standing strong within the light

We have the ability to change

The hope is given

Find the courage to allow it...

Know the difference...

Because you are the difference...

Acknowledge the power given and taken

Be the new hope as a seed planted

Tend to the growth

Believe in the change

Let it end like this...

And begin with you.

"Lines of Connection"

Thoughts wonder...

Seconds collect...

The kind side of understanding tries its very best...

With best intentions to not pass a decision upon a final conclusion

But here we are...

Another direct action taken...

Followed by the bold words to clarify the point made

Becomes the dividing line struck...

Tearing at all lines of connection

The senses try to make sense of this

Knowledge comes with the realization made

That this is another test within living

Reminding us that tomorrow only exists...

If we to our best to survive today...

Hold tight to the strength gained

Claim your right

You are in possession of ownership of your being

The control is ours...

You can't make someone care for you

When they don't appreciate what they already have

There should be no allowance given to anyone stealing your peace and leaving you in pieces

We all need to be held accountable for our wrong doing

For those who steal from us, then claim no memory of it...

Only buries a hurt deep within us

And sadly our memory keeps this...

A formative moment that has changed our mind against ourselves forever

But we find ourselves with this realization known

Some people will never ask for our side of the story

Because this is the version they wish to repeat in reflection of us

Which brings us to the hardest lesson learned

To resign yourself from the weight of it all

Not mad or even upset anymore

Just completely done...

To protect the life of our being at all costs

Because at the end of it all, we cannot control everything that is happening

Our true power lies within our reaction to it.

Emotions...

Daily creations within our senses...

Allow us to lead with the heart...

A wish dreamed is now a hope believed...

Serious moments hold us

As we wonder the choice now given

Since actions have been taken against us

We find ourselves in another life experience

Some things do break our hearts

But end up fixing our vision

The truth does hurt...

But it does not end our existence

Lies cover up and only please us briefly

But they never correct that which has been broken...

We are not this darkness looming

Our shoulders do not wish to bare such weight

But there is always a storm cloud in the sky

Attempting to rain upon the sunshine

Because sometimes words fall short...

And “I'm sorry” fails to convey the gravity of what has been stolen

Leaving us a simple hope in understanding

That when we become bigger than the moment

We have the ability to learn passed it...

Even though it was meant to destroy you

It has given you the strength to rise

The soul, when allowed, usually knows what to do

Breathe...

Heal...

And embrace the knowing

That there is so much more always said in the unsaid

Because there is always more...

And it is better than today.

We are these moments...

In and through existence...

The senses learn...

The world the classroom and we the forever student

An understanding from knowledge we seek

Until we find ourselves busy with life

Just grains of sand within the universe

Renting out the place we stand until we are no more

Each step is an adventure taken...

A balance is found...

Even when each day becomes a fine line drawn

To be pulled this way by the hands of fate...

Then shoved the other until our feet stumble within reality...

It is through this that the realization is found

Life is beautifully ugly at times

And here we be...

Listening to the reminder given

Don't let the silence tear a hole though your soul

Because we are not our every yesterday...

Embrace the broken

Through the little cracks is how the light finds its way in

Chasing away darkness

Breathe...

Hold yourself true

You are alive for a reason and you are doing the best that you can

Survival is what we live for

Plant the seed of belief

Let the tears rain until you grow

Because hope is always worth fighting for.

Our breath is caught...

All upon a single moment...

Because its gone...

Change is this swift motion forward

And we are here...

Wondering...

There is this sudden darkness

Storm clouds linger over our heads

Tears rain...

The future seems to be abandoned

Today is a face that we can't dare to look at in the eye

Yesterday is the time we search

Embraced in all the seconds

Where laughter echoes

And a smile shines bright

We find ourselves lost amongst the heaviness

A voice without words...

The uncertainty holds confusion

Because even in pain...

We would rather feel that, than nothing at all

It's life reminding us that it happens all the time

By existing everyday...

With or without us...

And now without you...

Love in honour holds the light

As we keep the legacy of you alive

Because what we have loved was mortal

And that embrace is what we have to let go of...

Comfort begins to be found within the knowing

That you continue to participate in every thought, act, and decision made

As the essence of you dwells within our souls for the rest of our lives

In the threads of our memories woven

Through the years in every heartbeat
