One year...

A space in time only partially understood...

Even with the days and moments counted...

Past seconds linger...

Echoing through life's experience

Memories hold their worth

There is this ever lasting embrace imprinted upon us

Happiness keeps the flame of you alive within us

Even between the moments of silence...

Parts of us still ache...

Mourning everything that is missed and that will never be

Desperately wishing we could dig deeper

To unravel the tangled mess of all those things we will never understand

Because it's always in those odd moments...

When the bittersweet remembrance stirs the feelings within

It floods the body with emotion...

And we realize the beauty within nostalgia...

That even now the tears shed, waters the seed of you

Planted within our heart of love

Still growing with us...

From a life lived...

To the last drops of sand that fell within your hourglass

Leaving your fingerprints upon us

And like a sunflower rising to the sun

You have taught us the best lesson you ever could

To appreciate where you are in your journey, even if its not where you want to be

Gratitude is perspective

Effort put forth is reflective

We carry the power to change the narrative

Life is not about what you die for...

It's about what you have lived for...

Because every season serves a purpose within existence.

There is always a list...

Of days and numbers counted...

Where secrets hide...

And words try to begin...

The end remains incomplete...

Because the beginning has yet to be

Questions wonder...

Answers wish to speak

It's the hard decision made

Between what is right and what is easy

Truth is real...

And it does hurt..

But honesty is the best action told

The fact that a being keeps silent...

Does not necessarily mean they have nothing to say...

This is the place where we hide our loudest words

Waiting and learning...

Acknowledging the lessons learned by experience

We all contain a warrior within

Some waiting at rest...

While others are just ready to stand up and begin...

Advocate for the soul of well being

Fight for the right to put your welfare first

A bad moment or day is never an excuse to use cruelty

The harshest of words that are intended to inflict pain, always leave scars upon the soul

So at the end of it all...

After reasons and excuses are made...

Refuse to allow darkness to manipulate your vision into creating a distorted ideal given

We are the keeper of the light within...

Regardless if you listen or not..

The view of us created by another, is not our responsibility

We can't hate ourselves into a version of us we can love...

That control and ability is ours to own

All in a world that is better...

Because you are in it.

Cruelty always attempts to shade us with shadows

Please, understand the value that you hold

Change comes from hope planted

Mend together the pieces of life

Some broken pieces does not mean completely fragile

Effort is a reflection within interest

The street of life carries us

Some days at a speed we cannot see

Understand intention...

All choices we need to deem their worth

Tears shed mean you feel

Doubt shows care...

And actions taken contains the want for something more

Because no matter how many times you have felt lost

Within a list of a thousand things to do

From the all consuming range and roles of responsibilities

At the core of it all, you are still you

Learning everyday...

So when you ask yourself, 'Are you broken?”

No...

You are just rearranging priorities

Because you realized that we all have two lives

Through the months and seasons

The days have all been counted

While others seem too much or too heavy to hold onto

Because my embrace still holds onto you

A heartbeat within existence echoes

Through an absence that can never be replaced

Because the bond within connection remains

The darkness within tears needed to be shed

Allowing the change within our vision in knowledge
