"Stand Up Again"

How flawed are we?

That some of us preach perfection...

By only repeating the definition...

Who is pulling your strings?

Making you dance to a tune you do not want to hear

Stepping to the left...

When you want to go to the right...

Standing in judgment

An invisible tightening to reality

Choking the air with pain

Allowing the voice inside you to silently cry...

All is okay to them...

As long as the puppet follows...

And does not lead...

The energy you keep

Is the energy you put out into this world

The heart does what the mind sometimes does not understand

But know this...

We are who we are

Make the best with peace

We are more than a list of contradictions

It's fact, not fiction

We are existence...

But why do we continue to fall?

To learn how to stand up again

Till we realize we are enough

We are our own person

Good...

With hope and intention

A being living...

Beyond all that has come before this moment

And that which has trespassed against us

To be the best of our ability, not others

The worth is in the trying

And maybe it's not happily-ever-after

But it's happy, after everything else.

"Burden Of Truth"

The softness of darkness...

Embraced smooth...

Allowing the knife to cut deep

Only because the fingers holding it...

Was that of a person loved...

Thoughts confined

Questions yearning for answers

Breaking all the rules of the heart

Eyes failed to see the true depths

Of something that was never there

Because actions could not convey the true burden

Of sharp and jagged words

Concealed behind false intentions

Of an image of the most beautiful thing never seen

Heart beats and footsteps

Fighting for a dream never coming true

Sounds in silence warned

True intentions not given

Caution lingered in the soul for good cause

Weighted by the burden of fear

Calloused are the weary palms for holding on to tightly

All for something never had...

To almost abandon one soul to find another

Is the cruelest of convictions

Putting a mind at war...

Leaving no room for humanity

It's history used to cause another to loose...

The entirety of their being

For another to love them.

Life in moments...

Counted and gathered...

Darkness attempts to numb the soul

When all we wish is to stand within the light

Tangled thorns mix with words

Clarity is absolution

We change with the seasons

Heartbeats in seconds

Time is never wasted on self-improvement

To gain achievement from ordinary to extraordinary

Refuse to live behind the shadows of others

No regret is worse than, “What could have been...”

Yes, there is a great deal of consequences for certain actions taken

Realize this...

Apologize...

Forgive...

Move on...

Let go...

With all that you have left

Start anew...

Where you stand...

Dream into action...

Look forward...

Plant your feet to that destination

Defy definition...

Because to many people in this world will try to confine you

To make you feel less than the brilliance that you are

Don't be afraid to disappoint them

And exist beyond a label on a box in life

We are better than expectations

Numbers are just numbers

Letters are just letters

We are more than “just average”

And more than limitations.

Without clarification...

There is often mistakes given to the silence...

A loudness of quiet...

Like a crack of thunder in the darkness of night

Words echo...

Tears hang like droplets of rain

Baited breath awaits the storm

Heavy clouds of worry

Shades of gray are filled with an aching loss of the sunshine

Prayers beg for a clearing

Haunted is the mind

Confusion and concern

So much time wasted...

To maintain a life not lived

For the benefit of others?

What is your true happiness?

Run to it, instead of from it

The past will never change

The version of you that others have created

Is not our responsibility to maintain

Don't surrender your faith

Never allow the peace you keep

To turn into the prison holding you back

You are not darkness

Just because others are afraid to shine their light

We are not our mistakes

We are what we make of them after learning

And if you break...

It's okay to embrace your friends

Allowing them to help you put yourself back together again

Every day is a new beginning

Take a deep breath

Another step

Smile and start again with open arms

Because the curious things about storms...

They always pass.

The heart knows...

The cost of everything...

Memories gather

Like foot soldiers marching

A battle between the mind and soul

Betrayal is an action always wanting to be known

We have become these moments lost

Your actions cannot break me...

Your sins are not mine to bare

They do not serve to identify me

And they never will...

I will no longer feed the emptiness you carry

I release myself from you...

My goodness cannot be taken...

Making this final act one of simple kindness

For I lack the energy to be cruel...

Your absence from me will be a weight lifted

So please...

Save yourself the trouble...

The dirty hands...

And the sweated brow...

You will not dig a grave for my heart

For it was you who closed the door upon us...

Losing the key...

And I have now changed the lock.

Moments fade...

Blindly feet stagger

Through listless days

Lungs fill with trepidation

Bound in anger and grief

Sealed with a broken heart and shattered dreams

The hours grow dark

Until the eye can no longer see the light

Unhappiness with yourself...

Breeds ill will towards others...

With all things lost

Like tears in rain...

The will for survival still remains

Buried deep beyond the surface

Hiding amongst the chaos of emotion

Passed the bitterness and anger

Questions scream...

What is it that you choose?

Is it you?

What if you reached out?

And held onto hope as much as you do the emptiness

To embrace the will to change for the better

To set aflame a light

Like stars within the blackness of night

As much as emptiness bares down

Find peace...

Allow forgiveness

Our pain does not define our goodness

It reminds us that we are only human

To allow a wound to heal

We need to allow it...

And whatever you are not willing to change...

Is choosing.
