The moments of life happen always...

With or without us...

Some are reflective

Others are best forgotten

And on some less memorable occasions...

Push us beyond the realm of understanding

My heart and thoughts tug at one another

As this profound sadness wells up within my being

A large branch of our family tree has fallen silent...

Tears of mourning hold you now at rest

All memories now seem bittersweet

A pledge of remembrance is made

Honoured and proud am I to be part of you

Though grief holds us now...

You now dwell eternally free

Shinning bright down upon us

The pale moon and yellow stars

And every day within the vibrantly golden sun

We carry your spirit with us

Now and throughout the remaining days of our lives

With peace and grace taught by you...

As unbearable as it is...

We make this journey forward without you

Your absence leaves a large hole in your place

And just like the sky...

Its spread over everything...

"An Ocean of Memories"

The early hours of the day hold me

Darkness...

The perfect blanket to keep me still

The air is crisp

My mind flooded

Reflections of memories are over flowing

My eyes search past the horizon

The shimmering sun makes its break

A sliver of light comes through

An ocean of colour mists the sky

In my hands I keep tears

The bittersweet of broken

Words run lifeless...

No everlasting plea will keep you

A love must endure...

Faith must embrace the hope of peace

For we gather our thoughts like pennies

As we try to prepare ourselves

To pay the debt we owe

A balancing act between life and love

And grief and death...

"I Must Be"

The world is hushed

Awaiting us...

And the sun...

Muted gray colours of the early morning glow softly in the pearlescent mist

The cold air condenses it onto dew drops

Frozen within an embrace

The vale of the darkness lifts

Like a magic canvas

Its the curtain upon life

A new day to be lived

Experienced and gained

A mosaic built by us

We are the needle

The moments the thread

Existence is the tapestry of life woven

So clear your vision

No sacrifice is so great that you have to leave yourself behind

Sometimes we can't see to the end of the alphabet...

We get stuck upon “Why?”

Which means we are already at the end of it

Release the list of times and letters counted

You never know what strength you have contained within you

Until you dig deep for it

Its a foot placed forward to survival

To the next breath

Its not up to others

We are the architect

Gratitude is the attitude

Find yourself here

Reflected within

We ask because we care

We do because we love...

Be at peace

Some people may never see where we have been...

Or even understand just how far we have come...

Because of where we stand now

And to simply be me

I must be okay.

"Its Life Depleted"

Without care or caution

In all connections within life

Feelings or emotions

Bonds, love, or friendship...

We can find ourselves here

At that moment of revelation

That none of these things usually die a natural death

They whither upon the vine of life

Because they cannot with stand the storm of life

Of miscommunication...

Broken trust...

And the heaviness of betrayal...

Its life becomes depleted

For no one wishes to replenish its source

So it dies...

From blindness

And errors

Flooded by tears

It cannot gain another breath...

Moments fade

Time tarnishes the once fond memories made

Until the reflection is vision blurred...

Conversation ends

Seasons change

No one cares to bare the weight...

Or to maintain the effort

At being the keeper of this

So then comes the marker upon its lifeline set

Making this its final place of rest.

"Allowance and Acceptance"

Frustration scrapes through the thoughts

Bouncing off the hard edges of the truth

Eyes search

One foot in front of the next

Your only guarantee is feet must be moved forward

The compass within points ahead

Our past was lessons learned

Not something to hold us back

Sentencing us to a life not lived

We know better...

Its not that our mouths lack the words

Scared are the actions of failing to follow through

Strained is the strength to carry the burden

Like puzzle pieces floating on the river of life

Desperate to connect and fit in

We are the creator

Own the moments...

Be brave...

Breathe...

This is for the greater good

It gives the permission to say, “its okay...”

Its your allowance and acceptance

Because the alternative of staying forever silent

Is like dying...

Be present

Have faith

And live it

Embrace the worth in caring

And if today you run out of sunlight

The darkness of night will pass

A new horizon will break

To offer more perspective

Because regrets already are so many unsolved emotions

And choices never taken.

"Cut From The Heart"

Tears once ran

Faster than my thoughts could carry my feet

Memories took arms with what has come to pass

Half truth is still part of a whole lie

Refusal to heal what hurt you in the past

Will only cause you to bleed onto those who did not cut you in the present

Until enough is enough

Making it to far gone already

My hands reached out to give

Your hands only wanted to take

Words fell short

Until you asked me to fill the silence you were all to eager to create

Breeding the excuses to hide the reasons to believe

Questions asked became the quest traveled

Though nothing could be done to bridge the distance between us

Love blinds the mind

Allowing toxic things done ignored

Seemingly to justify the scares left

Just because the one loved beyond my own safety

Was holding the knife

Cut from this past connection now

My words still echo through

There was always a place in my heart for you...

Until you turned out the light.

"Only The Memory"

I once wished...

A hope beyond any dream

That laughter would kiss my lips

My eyes would see such beauty within the soul

A warmth would grow

Glowing brighter than any sunset

Colours would flow through connections made

Even rainbows would be jealous of the vibrancy made

Smiles filled with hugs gave faith

Comfort and confidence came

For patience gave way to doubt

Acceptance of love was complete

Inspiration given to existence is life

One moment can be everything or mean an eternity

Or it can simply be a trick of the clock....

Tick-tock...

Here I am

Moved passed where I once was

I am the architect now

Allowing myself to build another dream

I am the dictionary

I define me

I will not cast shadows in my life

By standing in my own sunlight

Tomorrow gives me hope for a better day

Where I am not...

Is not as important as where I am now

Reminding myself briefly...

That its okay to miss the memories

And not the person...
