"A Kiss To Hold"

In the silence of the night

I lie awake with your name upon my lips

My restless limbs long to hold you again

My mouth yearns for yours

To continue to explore the hidden curvatures of your body

To have conversations with your skin and my fingertips

My senses etch out memories that are held golden within my heart

You have ignited a passion of poetry and prose deep within my soul

I wait for that moment when I can see you again

But until then...

I hold fierce to the last thing before you left

And that is your whispered breath against my kiss crushed lips.

"Pillar Among Ruins"

With the days that have long since passed behind me

Comes a slow and steady ease

A release of tension upon my being

The weight bares down upon me no more

Time has gradually done its part by removing the mess left behind

Peace has found me from broken pieces

Though the fallout reached further that I could have imagined...

The ripples upon the lake of life are finally still

Calm sunshine breaks out over the still waters

We all move on from these series of unfortunate events

Anchored once again are my feet

Solid strong to where I stand

Fading upon the horizon is all the tomorrow's that never came

The ones that were filled to the brim with empty promises and broken bonds of friendship

Threatening to darken every doorway of today

But fortune has swayed

And the winds have changed

I am thankful for this

That throughout all this change

I remain...

A pillar among ruins.

"Simply Complicated"

As the sun sets

A wash of colour seems to ever so slowly pour over the sky

Tangy orange...

Vibrant violet...

And cotton candy pink seep through the clouds upon the horizon

Baby blue and a slight hint of mint green drift with your eyes

Searching...

Outward as well as within

The loniness that you now carry with you is so silent 

It cuts you so fine that you don't even realize it...

Simplicity has fled...

And the question begs to be answered

How do we make our lives so complicated without oven trying?

Because the true truth is what matters

It cannot, and will not be ignored

That we all live with the residue of our choices...

As well as the consequences of our actions.

"Golden Smile"

With each delicate breath I recall each second

A tingling shiver travels the length of my spine

Flushed to the core with warmth

Endless moments join the next

My eyes take snap shot after snap shot

Images filed and stored away

Multiple visions cascade

Rippling throughout my mind

Embedding themselves in my memory

The anticipation is fulfilled

But I am left wanting more

Until the next time...

When you say hello

And I get to see your bright golden smile.

"Tired Answers"

Following you...

Hand in Hand...

Has led me down a dead end road

Like falling leaves, I have slipped away from you

Second chances are given that name for a reason

And all choices have expired

All that is left is bitter ruins

Pieces of life have unfolded

Our actions are just that

Our actions

And we need to own them

Even with comfort given

It cannot be received if its given cold...

And the convicted guilty cannot be redeemed with pleading simple innocence

Because the more things changed

Somethings stayed the same...

And I have grown very tired of this...

Because the worst words that could ever be spoken

Are the ones that go unanswered.

"Surviving the Odds"

Sometimes in this life we live through things that no one should ever have too...

In this world, life asks of us only what it thinks we can handle

No one can live their life by trying to fix the past

What is behind us now are but tiny matters

We all reside in the present-here and now

Not only do we need to live every single moment of our life, we need to do our best to exist

It can become so incredibly hard when we live our lives in doubt

Second guessing is no way to live

In this life we do what we have to do to believe in ourselves

Nothing in this world can compare to what lies within us

Even when the person we want to be, no one else can see

We must do our best to remember that the walls and boundaries that we put up around ourselves don't just keep others out, they fence us in...

Its always a hard choice when your struggling with how to decide between what is right, and what is easy

The truth is something that can't be forgotten

The truth doesn't have versions, only absolutes

Too easily do we let the negative out weigh the positive

We are always mourning the losses, because they are many

More importantly, we need to celebrate the victories, because they are few

We all have the right to be different, to not be like everyone else

We shouldn't have to live our lives as explanations, but as exclamations

Sometimes in life we live through things just to say that they happened

Sometimes we survive...

Sometimes we live to beat the odds.

"Where I'm Found"

Slowly, my thoughts drift with the clouds above

A calming peace has found me

Moments slip from one to the next without much notice

My minds eye has random images of times past, present, and several things that have yet to be

My heart beat marches me forward

Step by step I make my own life

Building everything from something

A life worth living

A being I am truly proud of

Because I am not ashamed of who I am

Happiness has finally found my heart

My soul has found its wings

And I've learned how to fly...

Friendship embraces me

Convictions hold me

And most important...

I believe...
