Today...
And every dawn of mornings light...
I choose me...
Along with the peace that comes from knowing
That if this is all I have...
It will be mine to own...
That I am no longer forever waiting
For life to teach me how to gracefully let go of things that were not meant for me
To release that which no longer serves me well
To embrace the next footstep placed forward
Because I am reminded of the gentle whispers that come to me
That moonlight is proof that there will always be light
Even in darkness...
In each quiet breath that renews me
I accept that some doors may need to close for others to open
That growth comes from releasing, not desperately holding on
From now and until what will be
And every space in between
I now understand that wisdom is healed pain
That we are all human...
We may stumble and fall...
That our existence is not based upon our experiences with mistakes of the past
Suffering is the privilege of those who feel
Humanity is the ability to identify with someone else's pain
Survival is an action taken...
Not a state of continued being...
So many people around us are holding on by the tiniest thread
This is why we must offer kindness to those who may be reaching out...
Because you could be that thread.
