"Simply So"

I seem to struggle with the simple words of gratitude

Because to me, in this very moment

Thank you does not seem to be enough

Slowly you have begun to open the doors of your life and allow me in

Hand in hand we lead one another along

I have become very fond of having you in my life

You have become a source of deep and rich happiness

As we begin this adventure with one another upon the paths of our lives

I smile deep within my being at the knowing that I have become a source of happiness for you too

Making my senses crave more of everything that is us together

So at the end of the day when all words are spoken

I am simply left once again with thank you

For the chance taken...

With your faith and choice in me

Fingers entwine

And smiles shine ever so bright.

Hand in hand a new

A connection is made

Feelings begin free and easy

A simple flow of movements

Friendship grows

And eagerness pursues

Eyes of sparkle blue

And a smile that shines light

Making the sun so envious, because it cannot shine that bright.

Who knew that a smile could do so much

Like a bright shinning light awakening the most deepest darkness

Something honest

Its simple and true

It can carry so many meanings, words, or reasons

It can happen any place or anytime

Through laughter, sorrow, and even through pain

Or for no other reason than that its the only thing left one can do

A smile can be contagious

And it can liven up someones day beyond any explanation

So be the bearer of a simple kindness

And shine a light into someones life

Because you truly never know what it could bring to another

It can even make someone else smile even more.

"Life In Ounces"

The more that you lose

The closer you come to the edge of extinction

With your last known conviction

You claim full possession of me

Grasping desperately at anything to simply drown out the pain

Everything around you is crumbling

The drastic erosion caused by your new favourite drink is far reaching

It sweeps out the barriers, the very foundation of your existence

From living a life that was fine

Your now worse than any wreck

The shelves of your life have been emptied

The contents of your mind has been scattered beyond recognition

Your heart barely holds on in the hazy rain of tears

In a blink of an eye years seem to pass in single moments

Memories have begun to fade

Your soul continues to be stripped clean of its identity as you kill yet another bottle

Draining it completely of every ounce of spirit has held within it

The once fresh and crisp air of your being holds nothing but screaming chaos

Dazed and confused...

Bitter and jaded...

Drowning and drifting away...

Your senses have gone numb

A steady ache rushes over you in slow motion waves

Pulling you under...

You struggle to cover up your sobs on the inside

While you mask your multiple illusions on the outside

Sharp pains jolt through your soul like points of a million pins

The contents of your life has become dangerously thin

Is it night?

Or is it day?

The time has come for you to say goodbye to the world that you use to know

Your life-the connection to this world-has begun to slip steadily away

Who is this empty hollowed out shell?

The sudden sickening panic plagues you

The horror...

The irreversible realization hits you

All the things that have been stolen

All of the things that you have taken in vain

Your linger here for merely moments

Only a few ounces remain

As you grab me by the neck with your final breath

You curse my evil name

For I am the drink that has been drinking you and draining you beyond dry

Struggle no longer in your bubbly strife

For I am the one that has claimed you, and cost you your life.

"Every Ounce of Fight"

How dare you cast shadows upon her

Making fear rain down around her now crumbling life

The amount of second guessing almost out numbers her tears

A sweet and tender soul is filled with endless doubt

Most rational thoughts are forgotten

She is treading water in the place she has been now anchored to

Her strength drains rapidly

Every ounce of fault weighs down

Fighting to keep her head above water

She is reminded by those who love her

That she should not let anothers regrets become her mistakes too

She is better than this

And she deserves more than this

Than the partial paltry sublime after effects of a great love broken

So fight against every moment

And every memory...

Gain one foot up upon everything that has fallen at your feet

Pull yourself out of the deep darkness

And back upon the path that you are still creating

Be the leader that you are searching for

Because sometimes the scares that we bare are only there to serve as reminders as to just how strong we are

Because we all must remember

While following our hearts we must do our best not to fall apart along the way

So give everything that you can give to life

But never forget to live.

"Dawn Is Breaking"

Time seeps through silence

As mornings gentle glory begins its steady rise

A broad curtain of pale gray fog covers the countryside

Ethereal and thick it obscures the daylight

A sweet perfume of pine, cut grass, and a soft rain pervades the air

A calm stillness is everywhere

Tall tree's, like dim dark statues stand rigid in the shadows

A strange beauty lies upon the land

A thousand birds make their song

The sun smiles down with a face of gleaming gold

And draws the curtain upon the world for our eyes to witness the wonder

Colour spreads through the darkness

Leaving us a scene before us to behold

Listen to the rich growth of the earth

Everything is alive and breathing

Dawn is breaking.
