"When The Light Leaves"

At first it's undetectable...

A faint dim of the eyes

A laugh shared is now slightly off...

For a moment or two it holds still...

Then it comes real

The truth holds onto expectation

It leaks out slowly from a facade well played

Thoughts lead to words said

Hope lingers until time stops...

And silence is betrayal...

When someone you have come to know is now a stranger

Pride keeps the heart from begging

The soul knows that it's worth more than waiting...

To be enough or to be more...

For that, “now is just not the right time...”

There are some points that are markers of respect

Where our being will not yield

Compromise is a great and wonderful thing...

It should just not have to be applied to every action, plan, and emotion...

We have to be better

Love is not this many tears shed

Hope is not spelled by disappointment

Bittersweet is all that use-to-be when briefly emotions flew...

Soaring to new points of living

Till the darkness of disappointment entered

Finding us here on this part of the path of life and love

Lost within the broken we must remember

That when the light leaves us...

We have to do our best on our own

Peace begins within

We are our first true love

That flame will never go out

So, when we find ourselves in these moments

And it feels like its all we got left...

Then shine bright your inner light

Beam existence...

All on our own.
