"Already Done"

The battle has raged

The war was fought

Tears cried and have dried

And some scares will never vanish...

I've paid my time

Given more than I've got back

Somethings will be forever lost

But what I have is treasured deep

Held tightly to the heart

My soul carries the spirit of a survivor

Forged out of necessity

And embraced with all of my worth

This is where I stand

Proud of the person I have come to be

I've pushed through the ups and down's

Navigated the twists and bends of the road

Daily, I remember just how far I have come

The progress made is a monument of honor

A source of soul healing pride

There is no looking back

My direction lies ahead of me

I've cast away as many shadows from within me as I can

I dwell within the light

So when someone approaches me like you do

Threatening to reverse the hands of time

My thoughts and choices are already made clear

Instincts call to arms

And words fight...

How dare you shade the truth

Along with my intentions

And attempt to bury me within darkness all over again.
