“Finding your true self is never a waste of time.”
Stop. Simply think for a moment about how you see yourself. What opinions do you have of yourself? Have you ever thought about who you are? What you stand for? No, I’m not talking about your roles or social identities. You can be a friend, brother/sister, employee, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, partner, father/mother, son/daughter, all at the same time, but these are just an aspect of you. They don’t represent who you fundamentally are inside. Your inner self is who you really are on the inside.
To know your inner self is to know your purpose, your values, your visions, your motivations, your goals and your beliefs. Not as what you have been told by others, but what you have discovered for yourself. Knowing your inner self requires a high level of introspection and self-awareness. If you have clarity to at least half of what is listed above, you probably hold quite a high level of self-awareness. At the same time, the process of discovery never ends – it’s a life-long journey. But its still worth the the effort and journey. In any case, the journey becomes just as important as the destination.
So many people that surround us in our daily lives are lost. Lost amongst the hectic chaos of this continuously spinning world. They abandon themselves to the daily shuffle while losing themselves within. The question of self image will plague most of us for most of our lives. We all must do our best to dig past those images that others have of us, and of what we have of ourselves. The precious moments of life that are given to us can be so fleeting. Release all bondage and chains put upon yourself and search through the multiple layers of your being find out what makes up you. Forget about all of the expectations forced upon you. Do your best to do it, and say it right the first time. Because there are rare moments in life that you get to do things over. Start with the some simple things, because there is no need to go to any extremes. Make the choice for you, set a realistic goal, and do your best to achieve it. Plant new hopes and dreams and work with yourself to make them real. Be brave and try something new by stepping outside the protective box we all keep ourselves in. Whether its as simple as trying a new food or drink. Even if its dancing around while no one is around. Express yourself any way that you can within the limits you feel comfortable with.
Simply do your best, and try. Make every day worth while. Find the key and set yourself free, because there is no better feeling than finding your way home.
