"The Edge"

 

Sometimes...

The description for something eludes us...

There is no honest way to explain it...

But there is a line drawn...

Marking a distinct place where we should not pass or crossover

And the only people who really know where it is, are the ones who have gone over it

Never confuse what you are offered for what you are worth

Never let the darkness within another alter your light

Remind yourself of the truth...

That every monster that comes across your path was once human too

But that still does not excuse any or all of their actions

It does not give them the right to attempt to cause so much hatred within you

Take it as a reminder to yourself...

We are not ourselves when someone has trespassed across our boundaries...

We are not ourselves when we are in pain...

And we are not ourselves when we are emotionally exhausted...

Don't judge or punish yourself when you based a decision upon a misguided thought

Or believed in something when you could not clearly see...

Sometimes we find ourselves the collateral damage in a persons war waged against themselves

That we are left abandoned to wondering why or what to do

We cannot become a peacemaker without communication

Silence is only a grenade thrown by people who wish to cause more casualties

Rather than taking accountability for the role they have played in the destruction around them

We now must become unreachable to those who had access to us, then abused it...

It takes courage to leave behind what is not good for you anymore

And it's that same courage that will assist you in finding your way to what is

Choosing to believe that better days than this are yet to be is not denying how difficult life can be

It's refusing to let the hardest moments have the final word

Because one positive choice can change everything...

It can begin to alter all that is overwhelming into something possible...

We can be our greatest healer when we allow ourselves to do so

Grant yourself that permission...

Grow from the trust gained within...

As you begin to realize this momentum forward
