"Where We Were"

 

There is darkness...

And there is light...

We are these moments of existence

For every cloud found

Sunshine will usher in another day

The embrace of negativity will never leave you satisfied

Be the effort made

The choice is in the trying

We are the best version of ourselves

Take a breath...

The time is needed...

Respect, peace, and love

All begin within...

Our value is non-negotiable

We are beings of worth

Always have been...

And always will be

So when someone treats you...

Like a list of many options created

Narrow the choice

By removing yourself from the equation

This is not an act of cruelty

It's compassion to ones self and sanity

We are moved in many directions

And should not be bound to that which has already left us

Because by holding the door open...

Gives them the wrong kind of permission

Just because they return...

Doesn't mean we have to let them back in

It's within the remembrance

Of a lesson hard learned

That we now exist in a world without them

And have moved on from where we were.
