"Before All This"

Once upon a time...

There was a bright place inside my heart for you

Until that fateful day when you turned out the light...

Throughout my being dividing lines were drawn

At war was my soul

Between what is now...

And all that use-to-be

Thoughts twisted together

Emotions swayed like a pendulum

Heart and mind broke

Moments lost their strength

My eyes remained clouded by tears

Hidden beneath the rain was the confusion

Lies were sorted with truth

Some had meaning...

Others reflected words beyond imagination

Carrying myself in my own embrace

Through what seemed like an endless state of being haunted

My world inside a world stopped moving

Until all the yesterday's

Turned into today...

And another tomorrow came

Across the border line I walked

Outliving those effects of you had upon me

Learned is the soul

Survival forward is the path I walk

My heart beat for life drowns out any whisper or echo that tries to remain

All that was has faded with the darkness

This forward motion now blossoms vibrantly

Emerging with the warmth of the sun

This now...

A new day...

And then another....
