"Unforgiving Darkness"

The worlds heart is to hard and to cold to break for you
Frail, battered, and broken is this empty shell of a human being
One doesn't need to be a house to be haunted
The mind has millions of long hallways and many connecting corridors
Everything external has wicked its way in
A war has been sparked between one's mind and one's heart
A growing internal ghost has the perfect host
One's life becomes a lonesome place
No one recognizes one's face
Stripped clean, you mirror whatever others want to see
Its like yourself, behind yourself, concealed
There's this darkness growing and consuming
How does it creep in on you?
It seems like it comes out of no where, but you know that not to be true
It seems so slow and unflinching
Its like a deadly silent stalker
Your the perfect pray for an unforgiving predator
You never see it coming
It just jumps upon you, swallowing you whole
Where is it hiding?
Shadows lurk within you
Sometimes its simply sitting in plane sight staring you down
The whole world is watching
The weight of a thousand eyes are burying you alive
In a single second they make a life long choice
They pass cruel judgment and convict you
Your sentenced back into that barred prison that already exists inside of you
Their convictions towards you are like a loaded gun
By just being you, you are tempting their bayonets
Words are like numerous revolvers hunting you down
Stray bullets are a fatal thing to be left flying around
The darkness seeps in like an assassin
Wind blows through the emptiness like a bugle horn
One by one desperate tears fall
Peace cannot be found
You took your power in your hands and went against the world
The world took your will into its hands and turned it against you
The darkness has shut down your mind
Your blood will be spilled without a single blow
You will take up your eternal rest in the land-the ground-below
Questions fill this troubling void now
Where does this darkness come from?
Where does it get its power?
How does it creep in so quickly and so dangerously?
Is the darkness in you?
Is the darkness... you?

"Silence You Keep"

Published in, “Passages Of The Heart”
An anthology of Canadian verse
Poetry Institute of Canada

Sometimes words are not needed
For the tears shed tell their own story...
We are the keeper of the life within us and the dictionary that defines our being
You may know a persons name, but not their story...
You've heard what they have done, but nothing of what they have been through...
Sometimes we do what we must to survive
To make it through the darkness that we carry within us
For it can last longer than the night
Things in life will only repeat themselves until we learn from them...
Time cannot be bought
Every moment has to be lived
Borrowed...
Stolen...
Earned...
Or existed...
Three important things to remember
Health...
Happiness...
Heart...
Let go of the ghosts in the past
Stop the haunting
End the silence that keeps you
Find the root
The core of your being
Live it out
Its your every right to dwell within happiness
Dream...
Create...
Inspire...
Carve it out upon the great tapestry of reality
And when shadows fall over the rising sun
Its your turn to shine bright.

"Memories Of A Stranger"

Confusion and doubt
The greatest plague of the mind
Jagged tears burn the eyes
Its a weird feeling...
When you realize the person you once told everything to
Now has no idea what is happening in your life...
Friends to strangers
Disconnect of communication
Leads you blindly forth
The claim to right leaves another wrong
And lines are drawn
Good people give you happiness
Bad give you experiences and lessons learned
The best kind of people give you memories
The ones that sometimes bring you tears when remembered
Breaking the promise made
A constant battle had
To also remember...
To forget today.

"To Rise Above"

Do your best...
Handle the stuff within your life
Don't force it upon others
Because if they end up taking it within their hands
They control it.
Leaving you with no actions to take
Or any say on what is kept
And what is thrown away
Though it may not be your intention
When fault is not claimed
Though not automatic...
The burden is passed on
Placed and carried upon the shoulders of another
Actions fail...
And words are wrapped in barbed wire
Circles are made around the same moment
When all I desperately need is a straight line
Leading away from this what holds me still
So if you want upset
And anger...
Then push a loyal person to the brink...
Upon the edge of where they no longer care
I've done my best
And I no longer know if I have the strength
To rise above the bigger person...
I have already been.
